One of the best things that the policies of a lot of countries have done is including horses in the police force as well named mounted police. It has been associated with a lot of benefits, especially in the area of crowd control, who has been the most developed one. A Police Officer Mounted can see for 3x the distance of a foot Cop in that same Crowd. They can also just ride into a major crowd when they see that one person trying to behave inappropriately and be lost in the masses.
The majority of the policemen agree that mounted police is one of the best things to have been implemented to the countries security and control system. There are already 40 countries worldwide, including United States that use mounted police for the reasons mentioned above and more. It is also worth mentioning that a lot of countries decorate these police horses for their valuable contribution and one of these horses is Irish Draught Wilson.
Irish Draught Wilson was bought for £800 as a three-year-old and went on to have a long and distinguished career working for the West Yorkshire Police. His owner Kristine Wilson said she hadn’t intended to buy him when she went to see the feral youngster in a scruffy field in 1996 but had ended up taking him home after parting with £800 she had won at Cheltenham races.
“On the way home from the races I was chatting with my friend in the car and he mentioned that one of his acquaintances had two large horses that were for sale,” she said. “However, he said that if I was interested I needed to look in the next few days as they were unwanted, unbroken and were going to be collected for meat imminently.’ she added. If it wasn’t for Kristine, then the future of Wilson was about to be sent to the slaughterhouse. Not only saved his life but she also took care of him and now that he is up for retirement, he is decorated with a bravery award for his valuable contribution as a police horse. Way to go, Wilson.
