The video below is one of the videos that describe a horse’s self-protective actions. Even if you have never been around a horse, it shows that a lot of horses need some sort of personal distance with other horses or animals that they do not feel attached to or simply because of a bad vibe that they get. Horse behavior is best understood from the view that horses are prey animals with a well-developed fight-or-flight response.
Their first reaction to a threat is often to flee, although sometimes they stand their ground and defend themselves or their offspring in cases where a flight is untenable, such as when a foal would be threatened. Nonetheless, because of their physiology horses are also suited to a number of work and entertainment-related tasks. Humans domesticated horses thousands of years ago, and they have been used by humans ever since.
Through selective breeding, some breeds of horses have been bred to be quite docile, particularly certain large draft horses. On the other hand, most light horse riding breeds were developed for speed, agility, alertness, and endurance; building on natural qualities that extended from their wild ancestors. This video was filmed at Assateague Island (East Coast USA) where horses roam wild.
Pretty wild, that they are roaming around a parking lot! In the beginning, everything seems to be going pretty well, all of them are having a great time together but later on, two of them who separate from the rest of the group do not seem to go along pretty well. They ran into each other and started fighting. During the video, everything seemed to be going pretty well but then the unexpected fight between the two came and little did anyone expect that.
Well, usually wild horses fight with each other in order to impress mares and show them who is the best, which is similar to a lot of other animals as well. At least, neither of the horses got hurt nor injured from the little fight. I am pretty sure that it might happen again after a short period of time. I guess we have to wait.
