Every single day, we keep saying how grateful we are for our horses and we really mean it. People who are not part of the horse world may think that we are overreacting and that it is impossible to create such beautiful bonds with animals but only those, who spend years around horses and have gone through a lot of difficult moments in life understand how horses can be really helpful in a lot of situations, to the point that they can save you from a possible suicide.
Horses have a calming effect that makes you think that you can do it and you can get over every difficult moment that you are going through. They see in you a strength that you don’t know that you have. It is crazy how an animal can boost your confidence and convince you that you are stronger than you think.
This is definitely the case with horses and the lady in the video below who has gone through a lot in her life totally agrees with what I have mentioned previously as she has experienced it all. Phyllis fled an abusive home environment and ended up on the streets. She had an unhealthy marriage, went through a divorce, started drinking too much alcohol, and then, ended up in jail.
While in jail, Phyllis was allowed to go out to a farm using a day pass. During her outing, she met a cowboy who introduced her to a 3-year-old Arabian stallion named Charlie Brown. The horse had been abused, and Phyllis couldn’t stop thinking about him. “I walked in the barn and there was this skinny little horse with the biggest, saddest brown eyes I’ve ever seen in my life.”
She quickly fell in love with Charlie Brown, and from then on, her dream was to own a horse. Little did she know that this 3 years old stunning Arabian would be the light at the end of the tunnel for her. Charlie is the reason why Phyllis is so grateful for her life now. If you feel defeated and without hope at a point in your life, your horse can definitely help you get over it. Such an inspiring story.
