In case you needed a daily dose of motivation than the incredible story below is the right one for you. A pony named Alan proved once again that miracles do happen! He was born and raised on the main road when he was bought for just £5, then out of nowhere he got into dressage and now is set to compete in the Petplan Equine Area Festival Championships.
His new owner Vicci Smith, bought Alan from a friend of hers who had taken Alan as a foal from people living next to the A19 but was disappointed when he didn’t grow big enough for her. Vicci said that she wasn’t looking for a horse at the time but chose to give him a second chance and decided to buy him for £1.
When she went to get him, she didn’t have a pound coin, only a £5 note but she didn’t mind to spend it for him! In the beginning, he was very thin and had hair everywhere but with all the care and attention of Vicci and her kids he became a perfectly healthy pony. Vicci and Alan did a lot of activities together such as hacking and beach rides, as well as following hounds but she had never planned to compete him in dressage.
It all started out by accident but they got some good scores and decided to give it a try. Alan is not the typical dressage horse but he has got all the right moves, that’s why the judges like him. They’ve participated in many local championships and managed to do a great job. We wish them all the best in their beautiful and long journey!
