Finally, some good news for all equestrians. A beautiful horse named Joline was successfully rescued after being neglected and in bad conditions at the Born to Fly Stables in southern Miami County. Her new owner, a woman named Emily Cromer, decided to adopt Joline after watching a Facebook ad of her.
She went at the stables to watch Joline but noticed that she and several other horses were very thin and their owner wasn’t taking proper care of them. She was absolutely shocked when she first saw the conditions at Born to Fly Stables off Singer Road north of Huber Heights.
That was the moment when she decided to buy Joline and transfer her to another stable, where she is being treated very well. The veterinarian who visited Joline informed Emily that Joline should weigh around 1,200 pounds, but she’s only about 895.
Fortunately, now Joline is safe, she is eating lots of food and doing real progress on her road to recovery. Her owner’s focus is on getting Joline’s weight up. She’s been eating everything, and she’s had a lot of water, about 15 gallons on her first day, and her first records from the veterinarian say that she is recovering fast.
Miami County Sheriff Dave Duchak stated that six animal cruelty files were registered against the owner of Born to Fly Stables, Dayna Cocca, “for not feeding some of the horses.” We don’t know if any actions were taken by the police in order to close her stable, but we hope that by making this case public, Cocca will change the way she takes care of the horses.
