One of the heart-attack moments in life is when you can’t find your pet even after hours of searching. Maybe you are one of those horse owners who have returned home and you couldn’t find your pet. Well, in the case of a horse, it is not really difficult to find it given the horse’s size, that’s why the owners of horses will most likely realize earlier whether their horses went missing or not. Logically, it is less likely for a horse to go missing compared to animals like dogs or cats, however, there are still cases of those who did, like the horse in the video below.
I know, it is a little hard to believe how a horse can go missing because it is either easily spotted by the neighbors, even when the owners are not home or seen suspiciously by the random people who might be walking down the same street with a horse. Top dressage rider and trainer Pammy Hutton has praised the power of social media after a horse who went missing was found the next day. Hanoverian gelding Dante lives out at the Talland School of Equitation, Gloucestershire.
Let’s get more into the story through the words of Pammy who was extremely worried by the whole situation, “The whole farm is absolutely secure but unfortunately, he’d jumped out. I was in the office and I said: ‘Let’s Facebook it’. Within three-quarters of an hour, it was let loose.” This Facebook post got immediate attention, the post was shared more than 30-thousand times and a lot of calls started to come through really soon for important information.
“Someone rang to say they’d heard what sounded like a horse going past their house at about 4.30 am,” Pammy said. “So we sent someone down to the road and could see where he’d skidded – so we followed the skid marks.” Police and farmers had also been contacted but by this point, dark was falling and the search was put on hold until today – when Dante was found three miles away. Finally, they managed to find him and Pammy was really grateful that Dante wasn’t hit by a car. That’s why whenever you think that your horse is safe, make sure to add a little extra safety just in case.
