Today we are going to show you a breed that we are pretty sure that everyone loves: The Paint Horse. They have gained so much popularity due to their beautiful physique and impeccable features. The Paint horse is one of the easiest breeds to recognize due to their splashy marks who makes this breed very unique and impossible to forget.
What makes this breed so special is the fact that each paint horse is Unique just like a zebra’s stripes, each paint horse has his own different markings. These gorgeous creatures were firstly called “The pintos” and were first mentioned by the famous Spanish Explorer Hernando Cortes in his diary.
Before the 1950s, these horses were termed by many names including here Pinto, Paint, Skewbald, and PieBald. Nowadays, the American Paint Horse Association is one of the world’s largest equine registry because people just can’t get enough of these magnificent horses.
Over one million Paint horses are listed, with about 15,000 being listed yearly. We didn’t know that there existed such a thing as white paint! While we all know that white horses are very rare, the gene is actually dominant and it can happen in Paints.
Even more exciting, is the fact that the horse may truly have a color (spotting) pattern but it won’t be noticeable because the base color is white as well. These horses are born white and have dark eyes and pink skin, which divides them from a gray horse.
