It’s always emotional to hear touching stories of mishandled horses and ponies who have suffered a lot throughout their life. Some of them are still suffering at the moment we’re speaking and are waiting and praying that someone will rescue them whilst some lucky horses have found the happiness they truly deserve.
Today we are going to talk about a fortunate horse who finally is living the life he deserves. Clyde is a black gelding, who was rescued by World Horse Welfare, an international charity organization who is based in the United Kingdom and most of you recognize it with its previous name “The International League for the Protection of Horses”.
They found the unlucky horse in a field, seriously thin and with huge chipped feet. Clyde was coated in ice and had pieces of hair missing from his coat where he had attempted to rub to reduce the irritation. When Clyde arrived at the farm he had sunken eyes and wasn’t in good condition.
The rescue team worked very hard to make him feel protected and comfortable, treating his skin condition and applying a duvet under his stable carpet so that his protruding bones didn’t rub and generate soreness.
Clyde has had an incredible transformation since he first came into the care of World Horse Welfare. Unbelievably, he managed to win the Reserve Champion Rescue Pony at Equifest this year, which is an unimaginable accomplishment for a pony who just a year before, was living in terrible condition and was very unhealthy.
