Imagine yourself driving in the middle of the night on a highway where the speed limit is also higher, the last thing that goes into your mind is that a herd of horses will appear in front of you. It is something that does not happen every day, however, it happens and the driver should be really careful of these moments because if there is not enough lighting, it can be fatal either for the driver or horses.
Fortunately, this is not the case. This stunned driver felt the full horse of the law after encountering four mares hoofing it away from the police in a bizarre head-on chase down an A road. Michael Curtis, 40, from Ashington, Northum, was leaving for work at 4 am on the deserted A189 Spine Road when he saw blue lights coming towards him on December 22 last year.
The bleary-eyed baker could not believe his eyes when he spotted four horses galloping across the tarmac with a Northumberland Police vehicle in tow. Michael, who shared dashboard camera footage of the unusual encounter earlier this month.
He insisted that the police’s intervention saved him from careening into the horses in a potentially serious collision. Thank goodness everything went fine and both the horses and the rider were totally fine.
