Riding a horse is not as easy as riding a bike. On a bike, you’re in control. But on a horse, you might hold the reins, but they still have the final say. The best riders have a good relationship with their horse and have a keen sense of what they can and cannot do.
But sometimes, a horse can surprise their owner. Just look at Shamrock, a former racehorse. However, it seems Shamrock might have forgotten he is retired. Nick Bull mounted Shamrock for a nice trot down a country road. While it might have started out this way, things escalated quickly.
Nick begins to record the video below as Shamrock picks up speed. The rider can be heard shouting “whoa!” many times in the background, as he calls Shamrock’s name. But Shamrock never lets up on his fast pace. He must be missing his glory days of racing, as he’s clearly on his way to somewhere important on this ride.
While the video ends a bit frighteningly, with Nick being thrown from Shamrock, he is OK and amused by the ride. He even apologizes for his “girly screams.” If you’re happy to see that Shamrock is still having fun in retirement, you’ll also enjoy this video of retired racehorses that were rescued from slaughter and given a better life.
