Talk about adorable morning traffic! A man driving on the beach passed by some majestic fellow commuters on his way to work: wild horses. The band of six Corolla horses was just moseying along the ocean in North Carolina, and none of them were even the slightest bit skittish when a man passed them in his car.
Though it may seem like an unexpected surprise to find them on the beach, wild horses really are quite at home running along the sand. If you live in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where these Corolla horses were seen, wild beach horses are fairly common. In fact, visitors can take 4X4 vehicle tours to see them up close.
It seems like these horses enjoy the laid-back beach lifestyle because wild horses like these have been living in the Outer Banks for centuries. Another horse-friendly location in the United States is Assateague Island off of the coasts of Maryland and Virginia. Here, wild horses have been roaming free for over 400 years!
More than 300 horses populate this island in a self-sufficient community, where they coexist with other wildlife. Watch this video at your own risk: it just might tempt you to plan a vacation amongst the horses.
