Two beautiful Percheron horses, Luke and Ike, started their lives as carriage horses in Dayton, Ohio. When their owner no longer had a use for them, the horses were discarded like garbage. They were abandoned in a field with no food for a year before they were found. Last Chance Corral stepped in and saved these horses.
Their state was terrible as they were very emaciated like walking skeletons. Their hooves were overgrown and what was really terrible was that their overgrown teeth dug in their tongues and they weren’t unable to chew. Karen Gates-Miscovich, who lives in Florida, saw a post on Last Chance Corral’s Facebook page and says, “I opened Facebook and it was the first picture that popped up in the morning.
And when I saw them I actually gasped because I couldn’t believe that anyone could do this to an animal. I thought to myself, my husband is never going to let me do this. He got up and I said, “I have something to show you.” I showed him their picture and he said, “Oh my God. You got to take them.” And I was like ‘That’s fantastic because I have already contacted Last Chance Corral.’
