Halfway through a show, this horse decided that his rider was only slowing him down, he tossed her off and completed his runs and jumps alone. Apparently, the horse considers himself to be so strong and intelligent that he does not need a human to jump, he can do it on his own, but he has forgotten that he is in a competition.
When you consider the horse approaching a jump due to the way his eyes work, he cannot actually see the jump and in the last three strides he is jumping from memory. But, apparently, the horse did not toss the rider off, the jump did not go right as she miscounted the strides and missed them, tripped and the rider lost her balance. She tried to hang on, but the horse was trying so hard and it just kept on going until the rider eventually fell off.
Maybe the horse was thinking, “With or without you, I’m finishing this race. It is called horse show jumping, not horse and rider show jumping, for a reason.” Fortunately, neither the horse nor the rider was hurt or injured but the horse showed he doesn’t need a rider to do something.
