It might look like a tale animal cruelty but a noble talented good natured Tennessee Walking Horse called Glimmer was tortured for 9 years. His front feet were seared with burning scarring chemicals, and then they were beaten with chains while wearing almost 8lb shoes on each front foot. Glimmer was confined in a small stall the entire time. The worst was when Glimmer was tortured at the Middle Tennessee University in Murfreesboro on April 5, 2013.
It occurred at the “MTSU Walking For Education Horse Show”, and ironically MTSU is known for its Horse Science Program. Glimmer’s career as a show horse lasted nearly a decade but his life might have ended in a slaughterhouse. It was Tawnee Preisner of the horse rescue group who saw Glimmer at an auction and decided to take action. He said, “When these horses are scared to the point that they cannot use them anymore they will do whatever means possible to get rid of them.” Animal cruelty is not worth it, it does not get you anywhere, and it makes you cruel and sometimes leaves permanent scars on the horse.
Clant Seay, who put up the money for saving Glimmer said, “This is all damage. This is permanent damage. This isn’t an exception, this is the rule, this is what they do.” This whole business is dedicated to human vanity. It serves no useful purpose, aids no normal function, and abuses the trust needed for happy co-existence and co-operation between man and horse. Watch the video for more!
