Sometimes horses don’t get the recognition they deserve and aren’t mentioned often in different conversations about the significant role they have played by improving the security system, which is totally amazing. They are part of the mounted police, who exist in a lot of countries all over the world.
Murphy is one of the many horses retired by the Portland, Oregon Police Bureau’s Mounted Patrol Unit, at the beginning of this month when it was formally decommissioned. He has retired to live out his early years with his former owners, Randy and Jean Snow. But Murphy is not ready to give up his saddle just yet.
Lately, he participated in his very first show, running away with awards for his motion and wonderful appearance! The Snows raised Murphy from the moment that he was born but regretfully found themselves with too many horses so they decided to send him at the mounted police. The Mounted Patrol Unit gladly took the Gypsy Cross into their crew.
Murphy went on to turn into something of a Portland celebrity during his career, identified for his grand size and for slimming down with the help of a trainer. Based on his success last weekend, his excellent temperament and his huge stature, the Snows plan to register him in dressage competitions and also get him included in community outreach. “He just cleaned house and he got everything there was to win. Everyone loved him,” Mr. Snow told to a source.
