10 years ago, a mare named Princess gave birth at the teaching hospital at the University of Minnesota St. Paul. The staff of the hospital was totally in shock cause they had no clue about Princess being pregnant. If it wasn’t shocking enough, they were about to get a bigger shock when they found out that Princess was not giving birth to only 1 foal, but two of them.
If this is not shocking enough, then here we have something from you explained by the University. “Fewer than 1 percent of births of twin foals are successful.” But after 3 weeks of constant care at the University of Minnesota’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Henry and William are headed home.
Unfortunately, these foals had the conditions that the vets were fearing that are typical for horse twin pregnancies such as angular limb deformities, septic foals, insufficient colostrum, breathing abnormalities, blood disorders, and ruptured bladders.
They had all of these and more. After three weeks of constant care and rehabilitation, William and Henry went home. A year later, they were both happy and healthy and we are so happy that they pushed through everything. To see how amazing they are, watch the video below.
