A short film has shone the spotlight on a group of men who have chosen to follow their passion for horses in a city often known for its gangs and violence. The ‘Compton Cowboys’ have had the strength of character to re-focus their lives in a positive way. Together, they serve as an example to others that by making bold decisions and following your own path in life, you can find peace and personal fulfilment, regardless of circumstance.
It is the horses that make them change and lead a proper and decent life and a statement from Guinness Europe said, “By saving these horses, nursing them, caring for them and bringing them back to life, the Cowboys find a sense of purpose and confidence that enriches both their lives and those of the people living in the community around them.” Not only do they contribute to saving and rescuing horses who would have been sold for slaughter but they also are a true inspiration for their community.
It is Richlands farm that offers this kind of service and it is made up of around 50 small ranches where people care for horses and other farm animals. Being with horses has helped these guys in not thinking about their problems but thinking only about the horse and their peaceful bubble.
