Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue is a Non-Profit organization. All of their horses are rescued from auctions where these people are their last chance before being sold to slaughter. The horses are chosen for their temperament, soundness, and usability. Once safely home, all horses are quarantined for a minimum of 21 days.
When healthy, all of the horses are thoroughly evaluated to aid in the best possible match for horse and rider. A successful partnership creates a bond of trust and friendship for both horse and rider, and it is their goal to find that match for every horse they save. Slaughter is a highly profitable market and most of the public is unaware that the buyers for the slaughterhouses frequent public auctions to purchase their horses.
The people volunteering at the Gentle Giants Horse Rescue attend the same public auctions, choose the Draft horses they feel are the most viable candidates for rescue, and then outbid the meat buyer. Watch the video for more!
