South Australia is having the worst drought in decades which has led to deadly bushfires who have already burned more than 2.5 million acres of Australia’s east coast. A brave woman made a heroic act that led the whole nation to feel hopeful again. The local woman of New South Wales, called Toni, spotted a koala who was crying and screaming while crossing the road and decided to save her by wrapping it in her shirt and pouring water over it.
She declared that she knew she had to put something around him while she was running to the tree, so she thought it was best to take her shirt off and cover the koala with it. She was just trying to get him out of the fire because it was so hot and frightening.
They were able to reunite Toni with the koala maned Lewis at the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital. Lewis is staying in there being treated for severe burns. Unfortunately, the koala is in a bad condition and only has a 50% possibility to survive.
Toni is now considered a hero in Australia and people of all ages are showing how much they support and appreciate her act by mentioning her in all the social media. Koalas are native animals in Australia who already have been classified as vulnerable but are now having the biggest threats of their life by horrendous bushfires. Animal experts say that nearly 350 koalas have been killed in by bushfires in South Australia. We are all praying for Australia!
