Horse riding is a natural reflex inhibiting position which helps improve balance and posture providing a unique form of exercise and rehabilitation. Horse riding offers an opportunity for enjoyment, challenge, friendship, laughter, achievement, independence and confidence. Medical professionals recognize that there are also significant therapeutic benefits for the rider.
The warmth and three dimensional movement of the horse is transmitted through the rider’s body, gradually making it more relaxed and supple, reducing spasms and improving balance, posture and co-ordination. The disabled know this and more and more of them are into riding. Some of them even are passionate about riding and despite their disability they want to go on riding. What you are going to watch in this video is a really considerate horse who lies down making it easier for the disabled man to get on his back. This horse seems to know that the man has a disability.
The bonding, connection and trust will get your horse to do anything for you but this horse goes beyond that and this is what we call a man’s best friend. We as humans many times underestimate the level of trust and emotional bond animals are willing to show us but if we gave them the chance they would surprise us, just like the horse in the video does.
