Reining is a western riding competition for horses where the riders guide the horses through a precise pattern of circles, spins, and stops. All work is done at the lope (a slow, relaxed version of the horse gait more commonly known worldwide as the canter), or the gallop (the fastest of the horse gaits) (Wikipedia).
A perfect yet short demonstration of reining is the horse in the video below. Although there are a lot of speculations from people claiming that reining is not difficult, we assure you that it is one of the most difficult disciplines when it comes to horses.
The horse in the video is running with his rider in front of a hole and at the very last moment, the rider needs to prevent the horse from ending up to that hole. However, there are a lot of other speculations regarding how risky that movement was for the horse and yes, they are relatively true.
That was a risky movement but fortunately, the horse handled it well. What do you think about this? Do you think entertainment should come at the expense of horses? Let us know.
