Alex, a 9-year-old boy from Michigan has loved horses since the age of 2. So it came as no surprise, then, when Alex chose to meet the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales as his wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Alex’s wish became a reality when he rode the Budweiser Clydesdale hitch around Busch Stadium as part of the St. Louis Cardinals’ opening day ceremony.
With a smile from ear to ear, Alex waved to baseball fans, family, and friends — taking in every moment of the ride. Later he told his mom: “It was the best day ever.” It was not just this that made news but what really mattered was that Alex was battling a fast-growing brain tumor and when the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted him a wish, he wanted something special involving his love of horses.
While many will only dream of meeting the Budweiser Clydesdales, the Clydesdales helped to make one little boy’s dream come true. It was the best feeling ever and I could not stop smiling watching Alex waving to the crowd. It must have been something really special for him and that must have contributed to getting better.
