Mongolia is a country where people’s population barely exceeds the horses’ population (3.12 million people and just a little more than 3 million horses), making it the country with the highest number of horses per people in the world. During the previous centuries when Mongolia’s population was significantly lower, the number of horses exceeded the population more than twice.
But during decades, the growth rates for horses’ population were not as impressive as for the human ones. What you are going to watch in the video below is how connected the Mongolian riders are with their horses which is proof that being around the horses all the time, and I am speaking of almost the entire population, consolidates a strong horse-human relationship that we do not get to see a lot in other countries as we get to see in Mongolia.
Horses are family members in this country and growing up and being surrounded by horses the entire life explains how much this consolidated relationship develops over the years.
When it comes to transportation, riding is their main activity, way more than driving. Mongolian lifestyle is meant to include horses in any way. I bet you can’t find another country more inclusive of horses.
