‘’Only Foals and Horses” is a new hit documentary series produced by Bbc who follows the lives of two very passionate equine vets Phillipa Hughes and Lisa Durham and their clinic in Carmarthenshire. The two women worked together as students before opening their own clinic in 2006.
For Philipa and Lisa, it was like a dream coming true the fact that they managed to open a clinic in Nantgaredig after years of hard work and dedication. The producer of the documentary was firstly a client of the clinic and decided to work there and gain some experience because he didn’t know what career direction to take.
He did a mini-documentary on his own but it turned out such a great job, that Bbc decided to turn it in a four-part series. This was such a lovely surprise for the equine vets and it meant a lot for them that the whole world would be able to see the difficult cases they have to deal with and have a closer look at their professional life.
“We’re all horse owners ourselves and part of our ethos is that we don’t see them as a commodity, they are all part of the family.” – says Philipa in an interview, explaining this way that the true success of their clinic is dedicated to the fact that they don’t see it only as a job, but as a part of their family. Each case is presented differently from an episode to another and it will provide answers to a lot of questions that all the curious viewers, especially the equestrians may have.
