Today we are going to share with you the special story of a rescued horse called Hank, and his owner, Tammi Regan. This beautiful, 9-year-old gelding was trained to ring the bell in public outside different local malls. He does this for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle, a very significant campaign who helps by providing shelter and meals for the homeless and hungry, Christmas toys for children and social service programs.
Hank inspires all the people to give and it is a perfect example for parents to teach their children that giving is very good and compassionate. Then children proceed to drop money in the kettle and say thank you to Hank.
Regan first saw Hank in October 2012 standing all alone in a field and immediately made the decision to take care of him because he was in such a bad condition, neglected and left to starve. Although she has always been an animal lover, she’d never owned a horse before but as soon as she started looking after Hank, who then was only 3-year-old, she thought it was best to rescue him.
“Hank is proof that all horses are worthy of love, care, and a second chance. From the moment I met him, I knew my life had changed. I went on an immersion journey to learn about horses and caring for them.” – Regain said. After Hank’s popularity grew she decided to launch a program named Equinox Stables that offers natural horsemanship training, equine nutrition counseling, and equine business consulting.
