One of the most beautiful things about horses is the diversity of them all over the world. Every single horse breed has something unique that the other horse breeds do not have, which makes the horse world even more beautiful. What is actually very surprising is the fact that all these breeds are really different from each other, however, you will still find some of them who are similar. The majority of them are so different right to the point that you would think that they can’t be the same animal.
Horse people all around the world have their preferences and if you talk to different horse people, you will probably hear a lot of different opinions about their favorite horse breeds, nevertheless, there are a few horse breeds that are popular all over the world and the majority of people would dream to even ride them once in their lives, leave alone being the owners of them and I am referring to very popular breeds like Gypsy Vanners, Friesians, Arabians, Quarterhorses, etc.
Well, the fact that I named these breed might make you think that I am actually talking about a popular breed, however, the breed that I am going to talk about is not as popular as these that I mentioned and these horses are actually Palomino horses. Palomino is a genetic color in horses, consisting of a gold coat and white mane and tail; the degree of whiteness can vary from bright white to yellow.
Genetically, the palomino color is created by a single allele of a dilution gene called the cream gene working on a “red” (chestnut) base coat. This beautiful color makes the breed so distinctive from the other, although there are some people who mistake them for Akhal Tekes really frequently. Palominos are really gorgeous and are being used in a lot of dressage performances recently.
Not only riders love them but apparently, a lot of people are recently giving the breed the recognition it deserves and I can’t actually be prouder of that. Please have a look at these photos and let us know what you think about Palominos in the comment section.
