Remembrance Sunday is a national holiday in the United Kingdom which is held on the second Sunday of November to commemorate the contribution of Commonwealth military and other British service members who died in the First World War and other military conflicts as well. The Red Poppy flower became the most recognizable symbol of Remembrance Sunday after immediately blooming in the former battlefields of Belgium and northern France.
A photographer had the most brilliant and original idea to pay tribute to war heroes for the Remembrance Sunday by having an elegant photoshoot made in a beautiful poppy field. The British equine photographer Amy Lathrope joined forces with talented rider Sophie Seymour and her very special horse KWPN gelding Roo to have the most special photoshoot of these last few years.
Amy has had this idea in her mind for years but was still looking around for the most suitable location, until she came across an amazing poppy field, who was located near the rider Sophie. “It was all a bit last minute. I saw a post online about a two-acre poppy field which was near Sophie. She managed to find the landowner and they said we could use it, but we would have to be quick as it was due to be ploughed,” said Amy.
Amy’s father unintentionally played a key role in the photoshoot: He caught Roo’s attention by walking around with his dog. Distracted by Amy’s father Roo stayed still and Amy managed to take some gorgeous photographs of him and the rider Sophie. Enjoy this beautiful photoshoot by watching the photographs below.
