Horses are one of the world’s most majestic creatures — and I’m not just talking about their gorgeously flowing manes or shiny coats. No, their power runs much deeper than their outer beauty, as the woman in the clip below learned firsthand. Back in 2011 when Talbot was 21, she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street at her university.
This resulted in severe brain injuries. I can’t imagine how terrifying that trauma had to be for both Talbot and her family members. The college student had to relearn all of the essentials she’d already accomplished as a child, including the basic function of walking on her own.
It would have been all too easy to focus on the negative of her unfortunate situation. As she says in the video below, however, Talbot was determined to push through and get better. That’s what brought her to the folks at Pegasus, an organization offering therapeutic horse rides for people battling a disability.
Soon after, everything started to change for the better. Her mom calls it “miraculous.” When you see how far she came after just two years, you’ll absolutely agree. It’s so incredible to see how beneficial horses can be for those in need. Take a look to hear more from Talbot and the crew at Pegasus about her road to recovery.
