Today we are going to take about one of the most emotional and inspirational stories of all the time in the equine world. This is the incredible story of Amberley Snyder, a dedicated and talented rider, who learned to ride almost before she could walk. Since she was 18, she competed as a barrel racer in different rodeos across and even hold the titled as a World Champion Barrel Racer.
Unfortunately, in 2010, she was involved in a terrible car accident who left her paralyzed from the waist down. Everyone would think that her career was over but she proved us wrong because Snyder vowed to herself that she would never give up.
Not only she was going to ride as before, she even wanted to race again. She began the long journey of recovery and used her riding as a mechanism to help her defeat any obstacle. Keeping balance was the hardest part and since it was best in the saddle, they brought in a saddle to her physical therapist and inevitably, she recovered dramatically.
Balance is still her biggest concern, but apart from that Snyder is living her dreams. 4 months after the accident, she turned her goal into reality. Her incredible true story was even turned into a movie titled, “Walk. Ride. Rodeo.” which was released in March 2019 on Netflix.
It shows perfectly what Snyder’s life was before the accident, all her struggles and how determined she was to continue her career as a competitor barrel racer. A “must watch” movie!
