Thoroughbred
Thoroughbreds are considered being the fastest horse breed and they also hold the Guinness World Record at 70.76 kilometers per hour. This breed was formed in England particularly for racing and jumping. They have ruled the racing industry for ages but they can also perform in other riding disciplines such as showjumping, dressage, barrel racing or polo. They are internationally known for their ambitious nature, their positive energy and of course for their excellence. Long-legged and athletically formed, the Thoroughbred is the horse for the course. They did not easily convert into the fastest horse in the world, but it took more than 300 years to complete the breed. The Thoroughbred can be recorded back to the beginning in England to three foundation fathers – the Byerly Turk, Darley Arabian, and the Godolphin Arabian.
American Quarter Horse
American Quarter Horse is known all over the world for its incredible sprinting capabilities and they were granted this name from their capacity to outstand all other horses in runs of a fourth mile or less at 88.5 kilometers/hour. The American Quarter Horse is considered a very strong horse and they are estimated to be the most popular breed in the United States today. The Quarter Horse got its fame from being the fastest horse in a quarter of a mile. They are adaptable and can be used in many disciplines, but they are largely used in the western world where the most measure of speed in short distance gains the check, such as running the regular barrel pattern in 16 seconds. Due to their amazing qualities such as being stocky and active, these horses can move turns fast or stop on a dime, presenting them as one of the most valuable resources on a ranch to sort cattle.
Arabian
The Arabian horse is known all over the world for their beauty, but their also very fast too, notably with a record of 40mph. The Arabian horse is one of the most popular horse breeds who can run long distances. This feature makes them own for their exceptional durability and talent to sustain high speeds for long periods. Therefore they can be considered without a doubt top endurance riding horses, a discipline they dominate. They originate in the Middle East to Egypt sections of the globe, they were used in battle because of their resistance and speed capabilities. Nowadays, this breed is still used for its speed over a large measure of distance.
Standardbred
This breed is slowly gaining its reputation as one of the fastest races in the world, however, they are not as appreciated as the other previous breed we mentioned before. They are little in stature just like an Arabian horse and they have heavy hindquarters, who gives them their strength and speed just like the Thoroughbred horse. Standardbreds are also known as very friendly horses, that’s why they are the ideal choice for beginner riders and other lower levels of show jumping, barrel racing, and eventing. Mostly used in harness racing pulling carts, this horse is the quickest at the second gear – the trot. The ancestry of the breed can be pursued back to having Thoroughbred input. At the start of the breed’s society and to have what it takes to be listed as a Standardbred, the horse had to hold a particular speed over a mile at the trot.
