Thumbelina (born May 1, 2001) is a dwarf miniature horse and she holds a Guinness record for being the smallest horse in the world to ever been born. Thumbelina was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Her owners, Paul and Kay Goessling, and her handler, Michael Goessling, care for her along with other miniature horses on their farm in Ladue. Children’s hospital school in Fanwood, New Jersey came for a special visit.
They were all surprised by the size of the horse, having the size of an average dog ((43 centimeters (17 in) tall and 26 kilograms (57 lb)). It is worth mentioning that Thumbelina’s parents are miniature horses as well, but they are double the size of her.
Being Thumbelina means traveling a lot around the country for the fact that she’s very unique and people are very interested to meet her, especially children like the group from Children’s hospital school. Debbie, one of the hospital teacher’s explains how beneficial it is for these kids to interact with these animals.
She explains that as long as these children see their teachers interacting with the horses or other animals as well, they get all the confidence they need to come closer to the animal and do the same thing as their teachers. That is a whole lot of awesome to pack into such a tiny body! She may be little, but Thumbelina the mini horse is a friend anyone would want by his/her side. Please share and give Thumbelina some love from all over the world.
